Glide across the snow -- cross country or downhill!*
Experience the sensation of gliding smoothly over rolling terrain, along a tree-lined trail, across a winter-white clearing, or down a groomed slope. You can ski at your own pace, regardless of age and ability.
You do not have to be in super shape to start cross country skiing, but it is one of the best and most enjoyable ways to improve your fitness whether you are a beginner or advanced skier. For downhill skiers, green runs (the easiest), blue runs, (the more difficult) and black diamond runs (the most difficult) offer something for everyone. Snowboarding is one of the fastest growing winter sports today ? the best place to start is at a ski area, where you can rent a board and take a lesson.
Skiing will last you a lifetime. It's a sport you can enjoy with your parents, your kids and your friends.
Skiing is easy to learn. Certified ski instructors can teach you to ski in a few simple steps. Beginner and novice skiers make up about 15% of the skiers at most ski areas - so you're in good company.
What to wear:
- layers of clothes for warmth
- waterproof gloves or mittens
- a hat or headband - heat escapes through your head
- sunglasses or goggles to protect your eyes from the sun and snow
